Driftwood

In days gone by I’ve dreamed of you
Of worlds away, where more is true
When hours are long and well spent
And talk is sweet, love is meant
To be center most as spine in frame
No pain is thought of when there is rain
A simple man I’ve grown to be
A mind out of the clouds, drifting across the sea

You only heard Him water he whispered to you,

Didn’t you feel His voice as He held as the tree,

Yes that cool wind that rubbed and soothed you,

Listen slowly dear, there He’ll always be,

Who did we think taught the birls too, sing,

He’s the one, they follow His direction,

And when nature plays her many instruments,

Who you think gave her instruction,

The bass beats of the raindrops,

or the pitter-patter on the crops,

Listen slowly, He’s near

By the river or the stream,

a pool or lake or spring,

All the creatures that live to swim,

Him alone creator of every being,

Listen slowly, He’ll new joy bring,

The next time you allow your mind to listen,

to the silence or to nature’s song,

There is a message it brings along,

Listen slowly dear, dear slowly listen.
