A man of many hats is hardly ever whole; less he be in discussion with all his selves at once. And how is one to please such a man or give him peace for his own sake? Everyone needs peace, even if just peace of mind.
I guess that is one reason addictions are formed, as scattered souls seek to soothe the war of worlds inside and out. Addiction is different for individuals, and are by no means the bigger problem. Rest is.
Every means need an end.
No drug, not even alcohol, causes the fundamental ills of society. If we’re looking for the source of our troubles, we shouldn’t test people for drugs, we should test them for stupidity, ignorance, greed, and love of power.” -P.J. O’Rourke, writer (b. 1947)
The question is, what is so troubling?
For some reason it is never one trouble. I never did stop at one hat, the happiness was too short. I fed well, and kept searching for precious new reals. Some hats were worn more, some troubles visited more often, and I went for my fixes. I don’t have a answer to all happenings in my worlds. There is much that makes me happy, and there is much of me to go around.
Wear your hats well, one at a time if you can. Take care of where your happiness lives, everywhere Isn’t safe to go wondering.
I smile when I remember the kindergarten rule, ‘keep your hands to yourself, and use words’. I think that is how I make all my bits happy.
