Green

Born I was without you
But they called me by your name
Fresh from dependence
But in a world fill with disdain
For you are so beautiful and-
I’ll hope can forever be

I saw you at the place
The doctors with knifes wore
Gowns to save lives and patch the broken
And walked out to you when sore
The first plants I saw they had you
Dad planted you for me right outside our door
“That’s for you son”
Placing me to crawl on the floor

Taller than me you were after some years
Springing new colors and hues
Many leaves and fruits to share
With my friends who paint with you
Pasting to paper and canvas
Reflecting through this glass
I wear it to show me what i should see
But i still think we were all born green
Fresh as the morning light in sun or rain
Cool as babes after such pain
